About Wipperoz

Wipperoz is a Perth-based recruitment technology company building two connected products on AWS serverless:

Virtual CV — AI-powered, verified candidate profiles with identity and credential verification, trust scores, video and job matching. Available in English, Spanish, Portuguese and French.
Orbit — the recruiter side: applicant intelligence, AI screening, pipeline management and job posting.

We are a tool, not an intermediary. We help candidates get hired faster and help recruiters make better decisions, without taking placement fees or sitting in the middle of the relationship.

The role

We're hiring a Senior Full-Stack Developer to own features end to end across web, mobile and our serverless backend. You'll work directly with the founder and technical lead, shaping what we build as much as how we build it.

Location: Remote, with at least 4 hours of overlap with Australian Western Standard Time (AWST, UTC+8)

What you'll do

Ship product features end to end: from a problem statement through design review, API, UI, tests, release and measurement.
Build and maintain React web apps for candidates (Virtual CV) and recruiters (Orbit).
Take the Virtual CV mobile app in React Native (Expo) to parity with the web product.
Design and build Node.js Lambda functions, Step Functions workflows and event-driven integrations (EventBridge, SES, Cognito).
Model data in DynamoDB single-table design, with access patterns thought through before code is written.
Integrate AI features (LLM calls, screening, CV analysis) with cost, latency and quality guardrails.
Use product analytics (PostHog) to decide what to build next and to prove what you shipped worked.
Challenge scope: propose the smallest version that tests the idea, and push back when something shouldn't be built.
Raise the engineering bar through code review, sensible CI/CD and observability (CloudWatch, Sentry).

What you bring

6+ years of professional software development, with at least 3 in a senior full-stack role.
Strong React and TypeScript: component architecture, state management, performance and accessibility.
Production React Native experience, ideally with Expo, including releases to the App Store and Google Play.
Deep Node.js experience building APIs and backend services.
Hands-on AWS serverless in production: Lambda (Node.js), API Gateway, DynamoDB, IAM, S3 and CloudWatch.
DynamoDB data modelling, including single-table design, GSIs and access-pattern-first thinking.
Infrastructure as code (AWS CDK, SAM, Serverless Framework or Terraform).
A product mindset: you care about the user problem and the outcome, not just the ticket. You're comfortable making decisions with incomplete information.
Clear written communication in English. You work well asynchronously and write things down.

AWS Step Functions, EventBridge, Cognito or Rekognition.
Building with LLM APIs in production: prompt design, evaluation, cost tracking.
Stripe subscriptions and usage-based billing.
HR tech, recruitment or marketplace products.
Monorepos (Yarn workspaces), Astro, or headless CMS.
Spanish, Portuguese or French — our products serve all four languages.
Early-stage startup experience where you wore several hats.
